Who are you Israel ? Tell us a little bit about you, like how long have you been playing folk music?

Hello, Who am I? That’s a good question, sometimes I’m not exactly sure! Well, I was born in Sydney Australia and moved to a little beachside town just north of Sydney soon after that. I grew up with music & creativity all around me, My mother is a guitar teacher, my sister’s are singer’s & dancer’s & it was very natural for me to pick up the guitar and start playing. I learned to play the drums when
I was about 10 years old and beat them as hard as I could for most of my teenage years before discovering that I could play an acoustic guitar and actually write my own songs… That’s what I have been doing ever since.

How would you describe your music? What are your influences?

I would say that my style is a type of Folk. Sometimes more mellow and other times with a bit more pop or rock influence, just depending on what song I’m playing.
I like so many different artists and band’s, As a kid I remember listening to stuff like The Police, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Cat Stevens & the list goes on.

Lyrics are very important to us, are you writing everything all by yourself? And how do you come up with those lyrics? What is the creation process regarding those?

I write all my own material… Occasionally I’ll do a co-write with a friend or something but for me I never really set my sights on being the worlds best musician, I care more about writing good songs with Lyrics that actually say something. For me I just try to be as honest as I can be when writing lyrics, there’s inspiration all around at all times it’s just a matter of trying to tap into it…

What was the most incredible thing that happened to you as a musician?

To be honest I don’t really have one STAND OUT moment so to speak… Not yet anyway ; )
I really enjoyed launching my first LP in my home town to about 500 Friends, Family & Fans. For me that was a great experience, especially when the crowd sings your own songs back to you! Maybe playing in France for Groundswell Festival can be a stand
out moment ; )

What band do like now and you think you will still listen to even when you will be 90 years old?

It sounds cliche but I think that Bob Dylan’s song’s are pretty profound, for that reason I will still be listening to his song’s when I grow old.

You will play at the Groudswell Festival soon, is it you first time playing in France?

Yes, It will be my very first performance in your lovely country & I can’t wait!!! I just wish I could speak better French!

And finally, what could we wish you?

You could wish me a long and prosperous life of writing songs that matter and hopefully making the world a little bit better along the way!
